"Some people's lives move on a straight trajectory after college; mine didn't. My path seems to have been more, well, curly. After a few years of thrashing around trying to apply the life-skills I learned as an English major, I spent a good ten years in New York City working for non-profit homeless family advocacy and low-income housing organizations, which I enjoyed very much. I wrote a non-fiction book called "No Place to Be: Voices of Homeless Children" and began writing freelance for the New York Times and other publications. In my early thirties, I needed a change from the stress-filled, money-sucking city. I decided to get an MFA in writing at the University of Iowa, which was quite a switch from Brooklyn, let me tell you. Then I decided to start out fresh altogether in Portland, Oregon - a city which has been very good to me, love-wise, health-wise, and general soul-wise. I continued freelance writing, including reporting on floods, fires, earthquakes and other calamities - and also developed a business doing marketing and PR writing for companies such as Intel and Microsoft and healthcare clients. I met and married my husband, Bryan Snodgrass. We have had two children - Jeremy, now almost five, and just recently, Dustin. I may be the oldest mom of a newborn in the class. Never in a million years did I imagine the life that I'm living now when I left Harvard."

"I submitted a class report, but noticed that the on-line details were incomplete and some classmates have had trouble finding me, so I'm updating info again here. It was moving to see so many old classmates at Wanda Kim's pre-Reunion party here in London. (Wanda, by the way, still looks 18.) We've just moved to London after 15 years in Stockholm, with a couple of furloughs in Washington, D.C.. I've been married for the past 18 years to a warm and wonderful Swede, Erik Berglof (now busy saving the world as chief economist of the EBRD)--and have two girls, 15 and 12. Now that I'm back in my native language again, I'm finally going to finish my book--and also have a column in the British Prospect mag. Please do contact me if you come to London at amaccoby@telia.com. Would love to see old friends and show them the area cafes."

"Very interested in veterans' issues, specifically combat trauma. Please check out my blog, above, whose theme is reesources for and about healing combat trauma. The focus is on effective medical, psychological care and legal care, and the slant is apolitical. Thanks."

"I am so sorry to miss our reunion, but wanted to make an entry to the class report and wish you all well, so here it is. Eric and I are in the process of growing our family from 2 to 4 through adoption. Our sons will come from Ethiopia and we plan to finalize the legal work and pick them up over the Summer. I left full time employment in 2004, but consult regularly on developments in the global re/insurance business with a focus on the Bermuda market. I plan to be on maternity leave through the Fall but hope to have my head above water towards the end of the year. Speaking of water, I am also fundraising for a water, sanitation, and hygiene education project in Ethiopia sponsored by WaterAid. I hope to spend more time making positive contributions towards Africa and its development before our next reunion. Peace to all."

"Just got married to Elisabeth Simon, 10/22/06. We are attached at the hip and making everyone sick. Mark Lynch was kind enough to come down for the ceremony. My kids are in high school, my oldest is a soft-hitting smooth fielding centerfielder a-la Coco Crisp, my middle son is a guitar player for screaming bands, and my daughter is a soccer playing actress in search of a fictional part. I work for a chain of urgent care centers for kids around the Orlando area. So, if you are at Disney and your kid has a sore throat, skip the ER and come visit us. I also own a shop that sells electric bicycles and Haitian art (see website)."

"Hrmmm, where to start. OK: September 1983 Move to NYC to be a publishing slave. Meet the wonderful Jennie McDonald (University of Oregon 82) there. September 1987: Finally move back to California; fortunately, Jennie decides to do the same. June 1991: Finish journalism school at Berkeley, get a job at a computer magazine in SF; in one way or another, that's what I've been doing ever since. July 1994: Sarah McDonald born. November 1999: Benjamin Miller born. Now: The four of us live in a newly remodeled Berkeley bungalow (along with two cats and one nervous hamster). Looking back on those 25 years, I feel extraordinarily lucky to be where I am today. Looking through our just-arrived class report, I also feel lucky to have known so many of you."

"I look forward eagerly to seeing many of you at the reunion. The reunion book deadline came at a time of intense preoccupation for me, my father being very sick with cancer. Losing him in December was a hard passage many of you probably have come to know. But, funny how the process of these transitions can bring such sweet closeness along with the sadness. On the happy side, thanks to excellent coercion by Jennifer Divine and her most exceptional daughter, my life partner of nearly 23 years, Doreena Wong, was unable to decline the reunion invitation! The chance to connect and re-connect with far-flung friends will be a real pleasure. Doreena and I continue to enjoy life in LA, between frenzied bouts of work, that is. She practices law with the National Health Law Program, helping low-income and limited-English-proficient patients obtain health care. I'm still at Lambda Legal as a senior lawyer. Collaborating with Doreena on a health care discrimination case now before the CA Supreme Court has been among the extra-satisfying experiences of my professional life. When not working, she and I hone our already-superior "auntie" skills, stroll in the woods admiring bird life and sunsets, and participate in an amazing, vibrant LGBT community. We feel very lucky and grateful."

"Twenty-five years and counting (hopefully still counting)... I guess my perspective is that Harvard is unique not because of location, history, status or endowment. Its simply the people drawn to the College, from across the planet (and, as in my case, beyond!). Maybe I'll have something really clever to say after I recover from yet another overnighter. Yes.. 25+ years of serial one-nighters caressing that script to say just the right thing, fingering the fret board for a melody to sing, or probing the depths of some poorly written algorithm... just to see what another recompile might bring. Ah, yes.. so much fun, so little time!

ACHIEVEMENTS - (FAMILY * FRIENDS * INTEGRITY * GREAT_FOOD) = ????

Oh, and why do I find myself incessantly hitting the spellcheck icon, when posting to a Harvard related site?"
