Greatest Personal Rewards and/or Reflections on Harvard: “Our 25th reunion presents an opportunity to renew our commitment to needblind admissions and need-based financial aid at Harvard College. To varying degrees, our lives have been shaped by the Harvard experience, and our retrospectives on that experience are likely to include consideration of the people and events that made it possible for us to attend Harvard. The College’s continued focus on access and strong alumni support for need-based financial aid have helped to ensure that the College’s admission criteria remain focused on accomplishment and potential. Over the past twenty-five years I have had the privilege of serving as an admissions and financial aid officer, and as a freshman proctor at the College. More recently, I have led alumni efforts responsible for interviewing applicants from the five boroughs of New York City and raising scholarship funds to support undergraduates through the Harvard Club of New York Foundation. Those activities have defined my connection to the College since graduation. Education has become more important than ever as a gateway to personal growth and professional advancement. With the milestone of our 25th class reunion upon us, I hope you will join me in considering new ways in which we might get involved in supporting educational opportunity not just at Harvard, but also within our broader communities.” Tom resides in Larchmont, NY with his wife Jackie Spencer, M.D., and daughter, Anneliese.
